A rich and abundant treasury in celebration of the outdoors, this book encourages children’s natural fascination with the forest and its inhabitants. The authors have produced an enchanting book where imagination, story and play bring alive the world of the forest. Full of games, facts, celebrations, craft activities, recipes, foraging, stories and Forest School skills, The Children’s Forest is much more than a manual: it is an invitation.
Ideal for ages 5-12 it will also be enjoyed by adults, families and younger children.
The book is organised into the eight Celtic seasons of Imbolc, Spring, Beltane, Summer, Lughnasa, Autumn, Samhain and Winter. Within each chapter are the following sections: The Life of the Forest; Plant Lore; Imaginary Journey; Tree Lore; Activities, crafts and games; Animals; Celebration. The appendices at the end of the book cover woodland skills, safety, the Ogham alphabet, story sources and further resources.

“With this beautiful book – co-authored by Dawn Casey, Anna Richardson and Helen Ascoli – Hawthorn Press have scaled fresh heights in its vocation to put inspiring storytelling resources into our hands. There is naturally a practical aim at work in providing ‘stories and songs, wild food, crafts and celebrations all year round’. But this achieved with visual and verbal excellence.”– Donald Smith, Scottish International Storytelling Festival

Excellent products as always and really smart delivery. Thanks a million.
Such a sweet toy that will grow with my daughter and be played with for years to come. She is 17 months and loves rolling it along our floorboards as well as discovering different little things we have hidden in the back of the truck. It’s so well made and is lovely to the touch.
We had this ball bought as a present for our dog when she was being looked after by friends. It has become her absolute favourite and very popular by lots of other dogs we encounter.
We also live near the beach so it really helps that it floats too. We use it almost daily and have done for the past 6 months. So needless to say we are very satisfied with the product, tempted to buy a second just Incase (god forbid) we lost this precious favourite. It also fits in the ball thrower sticks which has saved me since being heavily pregnant.
It’s not easy to snag these pieces! Slowly adding to my collection. Love browsing Dragonfly Toys and seeing what they on available on my wishlist. Ostheimer is one of most favourite collection!
The main lesson book is of great quality, and it has a bright colour cover the paper and inside is thick and really nice quality and has good texture and I recommend these main lesson books to everybody
