Kala Raksha Trust, a grassroots social enterprise, is dedicated to preservation of traditional arts in India.

Chopad is probably the oldest indigenous game of India. The name means "four legs" from the cross-like game board.

The Chopad board was embroidered by a Rabari woman from Kutch, a remote desert region of western India.

Rabari women us a particular embroidery style unique to their community. Mirrrored and labour intensive, this style is claimed to be so durable that the stitchinng will outlive the cloth. The pieces of this set are betel nut, which women cover in crochet for auspicious home decorations, adding a mirror at the bottom to ward off the evil eye.

Chopad is a game for two or three players, or for four people playing in two teams.
The game comes with instructions held  together in an embroidered bag. Not just any board game, this will become a family heirloom piece.
