| Kala Raksha Trust, a grassroots social enterprise, is dedicated to preservation of traditional arts.
Comprising artisans, community members, and experts in the fields of art, design and museums, Kala Raksha was founded on artisan initiative in 1993 in the desert region Kutch, in India.
The Checkers set was handmade in collaboration between artisans of t wo different ethnic communities, embodying one of Kala Raksha's aims: to encourage people to work together for a common goal.
The board is a mini quilt made by artisans who migrated from the Nagar Parker region of Sindh to Kutch. The players are miniature dhabak, protective beaded disks.
The most beautiful set of checkers you will ever see.
